are a series of easy-to-read books called ‘Leveled Readers’ and are designed to teach children how to read. It’s not a program or curriculum, just a series of fun books meant to be read and enjoyed for the love of reading.

What are Leveled Readers?

Leveled Readers are short, simple books designed to help early readers learn to read and to learn to love reading. Smart Cookie Easy Readers are designed around the following elements: repetitive vocabulary, simple grammar, simple sentence structure, and strong picture support. Smart Cookie Books use Fontas and Pinnell leveling system, which is an A-Z system; level A being the easiest. As the levels gradually increase, so does the complexity of these elements, based on what has been taught before.

Open Dyslexic font

Open Dyslexic is the font that you see in the cloud with the talking cookies. This font is designed and created by Abelardo Gonzalez, especially for dyslexics. Each letter is heavily weighted at the bottom and evenly spaced, which decreases the visual effect of letters changing, moving around or spinning. Smart Cookie Easy Readers are the first Leveled Readers in the industry to use this font, which supports readers with different abilities.You can find more information at:
